Write for us
Open Music Review welcomes clear, original proposals that help readers listen more closely, understand a musical choice or find a fresh way into a familiar subject.
What we welcome
Pitch essays, explainers, comparisons and listening exercises about arrangement, recording, musical forms, performance or listening culture. Strong proposals have a specific question, a clear reader in mind and a useful point that can be explored without requiring specialist equipment or costly purchases.
A good pitch
Describe the central idea, why it matters to a curious listener and how you would develop it. Include a working title and a brief outline, and note any sources, permissions or relevant interests readers should know about. We value original thinking, plain language and a distinct angle over broad claims or promotional copy.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a commission; please do not send a complete draft unless requested. We cannot promise publication or a response time, but proposals should be concise enough to assess without a costly or elaborate presentation.
Attention is the best listening tool.
Open Music Review looks for the choices inside a sound, not a costly setup or a single correct way to listen.
